Nice to meet you all!

Hi everyone!

My name is Cassie and I am fiiiiiinally getting braces at age 26!

I've spent a lot of time (years!) overthinking braces. ...Does this mean that the rude people who have made unthinking comments about my teeth WIN? ...Am I going to go from looking like I'm 15 to looking like I'm 10?? ...If I get braces, does that mean I'm a superficial twit? ...Aren't there starving people in the world that should get this money instead?

Well, I'm over it and it's official! My appointment is set for June 16 and I had NO idea I could be this excited! I even feel a bit proud to be able to do this for myself. One of those "oh... I'm a self-sufficient adult" moments, I guess. 8)

Knowing that this little support system/information haven exists is a BIG relief. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!

Welcome Cassie!

I certainly think you have every right to feel proud. I know once I took the big step I was proud of myself making such a big decision. There will be some ups and downs throughout your journey (I'm currently at a big down  ) but all in all it will be worth it.

A really good thing to do is take photos of your progress. It really highlights the changes which have been made, and it will help to motivate you in times were you may find you're hating your braces. Like I mentioned before, I'm a bit down at the moment (long story short I'm getting debanded in 2 weeks, but not happy with the results yet), but after looking through my entire journey in photos I know I have made the right decision and my teeth have made a remarkable difference.

Good luck with your treatment!

Thanks, you guys!

Pearls, I hope you're feeling better! I can't imagine being 100% happy until the metal is off my teeth and I can take a good look at the end result.
