Cleaning out the cabinets

#1 Post by babysis37 »

Hello my name is Car and I am 48 as of the 21st of September. And I am about to do my 4th round of wearing braces. I am a diabetic and my teeth are forever shifting so here I go again.

I was so happy to find out that there are others out there whom are in the same age bracket as myself so I will not feel like I am 48 trying to regain that long ago youth...LOL. The teeth just play such an important part in ones digestive setup that I find it rather difficult to see some suffer with the ills of a bad oral cavity. The Lord knows that I cannot afford this but I know that I cannot afford not to.

I was sculling around some of the older posts and I was reading about those whom have gained weight. Hence my topic by line "Just finished cleaning out the cabinets". I have eaten my last bag of smartpop popcorn and my last Dr. Pepper. My husband decided that we should do this together and so he has resigned himself to forgo all the bad stuff with me for the time that I will be wired up. He is actually taking on a very healthy attitude about all of this and seems to be looking forward to getting a few pounds off the old middle section.

So since I have read some of the pitfalls of gaining since it so much harder to get it off when you are a wee bit older, I just decided to take a different approach to the problem. I have until the 3rd of November to get it all put into action. I do look forward to not having the headaches and the pain in the jaw...I live with teeth pain for I grind even when I am awake, well I clench more when I am awake than grind, I usually do that at night according to my husband. He tells me that I sound like a beaver going at it. Perhaps at the end of my time I will be a much happier person because I will not only have a better smile but I will prayerfully be headache free.

So I will accept any help in the quest of maintaining a vigilant program on staying on track with it all. My biggest problem is that I am a nurse and I usually eat to stay awake when it gets to be a bit boring. Hopefully I will have that conquered as well for I will get tired of brushing my teeth all the time.

Thanks for letting me share...and yep I talk just like a write, a mile a minute with no punctuation...LOL

I know what you mean when you say so I will not feel like I am 48 trying to regain that long ago youth...LOL. I still wonder if I'm doing the right thing, and I'm half way done with my treatment.
Good for you AND your husband for cutting out all the bad stuff in your diet! Soda is soooo bad for you anyway!!
Looking forward to hearing about your journey....Good Luck!!

Linda
