Hello,
Love this site. Getting braces in 2 weeks for the second time around. First time didn't wear retainer as much as I should have :? So at 51 I am taking the plunge again. I went back to the same place I got my first braces from, which his son now runs and felt very comfortable. Since I had been there before he took some off the cost. He is going to put the radiance sapphire on top 8 teeth for no extra cost. I will have metal on the bottom. Wasn't sure about the sapphire as I have read that the ligatures (?) can stain, but they said I can come in at anytime to get them changed for no cost and it only takes 10 minutes. So ready for it to start. I think I will survive it okay, I lived through the era of metal bands around each tooth. Can't wait. Getting them on during spring break so I can ease into them a little :D

Hi Web.
Well good for you! I am 50 and just received braces for the first time 2 1/2 weeks ago. I have ceramic on the top and a lower bite plate for 6 months. I was told that the staining can be from red wine (which I love), blueberries, yellow curry and tomato sauce. So far no staining. I have not tried the red wine. Brush as soon as you are done eating. I also use a oral irragator which really helps. Spring break ar 51 - cool!
Good luck,
Gizzy

Coloured ligatures are the way to go! So far I only get them on the bottom because I have a powerchain on the top and I think coloured powerchains are kind of unappealing, but I love them. Also, I drink a lot of coffee and I haven't had a lot of trouble with stained ligatures.

Thank you for the advice guys because I have an absolute love, hate relationship with diet coke and I know I won't give it up. The hate part only happens when it does a sneaky nose burp
