or braces, to get a more youthful look" is one of my responses to getting braces at age 62, about a month ago. So far, so good, only minor issues but I think I will live through it. I questioned my decision many times during the first week -- my teeth weren't really that crooked -- and at my age who needs a perfect smile? But my general dentist explained the pros and cons of all the options, including implants, etc, and braces seemed to be the way to go to avoid problems in the future. I've enjoyed what I have read so far on the boards here, and think this will be very therapeutic for me and reassuring to read the various stories. I want to do things right, and have become very very obsessed with oral hygeine lately. Hopefully I will return to normal at some point, at least as far as dental issues are concerned. As for me, I am happily divorced after a 30 year marriage, have 30-year old twins who are gainfully employed, and I am enjoying life immensely these days (braces notwithstanding).
