Had my second adjustment appointment today - at just shy of 5 months braced (21 weeks yesterday). The plan had been to change my wires again today (i'm in 19s at the moment) but after some trying it was a bit of a push to do so so the current wires are staying put for another 6 weeks. The next wires will be 26s or 28s (I think!).
On a very positive note - my nance button is gone!!!!!!! I squealed a little when he said he was taking it out! It feels a bit strange at the moment as there's a bit of a hollow at the top of my mouth but this should go back to normal soon. The nance was supposed to stay in place for about 9 months (around half my treatment time) but the ortho was surprised by the progress to date and said that we no longer needed the nance. He was surprised that the big gaps in my upper (where one tooth was extracted from each side) have started to close considerably and that my front teeth have moved back noticeably without really trying to make them do it - all good stuff!
He put elastics on my lowers to start closing some small spaces between teeth there and at the next appointment I should get new archwires plus elastics on top to keep closing the gaps up there!
I didn't dare ask if my overall treatment time will be reduced (originally 15-18 months) but I'm still hoping. I just don't want to be disappointed if things start to slow down.

I have a nance and cannot wait for the day it comes off! loldrbucky wrote:Had my second adjustment appointment today - at just shy of 5 months braced (21 weeks yesterday). Re: adjustment #2
Back from Adjustment #3 at 27 weeks (but 15 weeks pregnant!)
Changed both top and bottom archwires. Bottom now has it's last archwire on (19x25, I think?) and top has gone back one size as he's added brackets to the last tooth on either side so that we can bring the back teeth forward a bit to close up the remaining gaps where I had a tooth removed on either side of the upper arch. There's around 1/2 a tooth width still open on the left and 1/3 on the right. He's astonished at the progress in 6 months but still is reluctant to change the overall time so still looking at 15-18 months total - anything less will be a well-loved bonus!
I also have a train track type elastic on the bottom (to close some tiny spaces) and he added two hooks to the front of the bottom which I'm assuming will be used for something in the future
. Although the bottom teeth are pretty much done he indicated that i won't get debraced on the bottom before the upper as we need the bottom to provide an anchor for the closing up on the top.
Still very happy and have another appointment in 6 weeks. Then I should move over to another wire on the top, probably some elastics depending on progress. Then after that the next top wire will be the last size there as well.
