Little blue things on my molars?

#1 Post by Brittx3 »

I just got my braces on Wednesday (now Friday) and so far, I'm ok with pain. Pressure, yes, but no pain.

However, my ortho put these 2 blue things on 2 of my molars. Bite correctors, I believe. My back teeth do not touch at all and I have no idea how I'm supposed to eat or chew anything o.O

I haven't had solid food since Tuesday and just been living on soup pretty much. Great for weightloss, but just wondering how long these generally will be on and if eating gets any better/easier?

They're called molar buildups or bite blockers (also bite turbos I think). One of my daughter's has them. They're usually used with a deep bite so that the top teeth don't hit the bottom brackets (or in my daughters case the bottom teeth don't grind holes in the roof of her mouth).

They'll stay there until your bite is corrected enough that you will no longer bite down on the brackets without them. My daughter hates them but she has managed to learn to chew, it just takes some practice.

Hi, Hope you manage to work out how to eat something other than soup soon. Once you work this out, please be so kind as to share any tips!

:-1 Hi! I also got braces on Wednesday April 17th! I also got the blue thingys and have also been eating lots of soups! I think I've lost about 3 or 4 pounds already. I am unable to chew since my molars don't touch at all. I really hope I learn a new way of eating more solid foods cause I'm kind of getting tired of soups. So far the most solid meal I've had is a baked potato without the bacon bits of course.

I have molar build ups on my molars too, it is a bit difficult to chew with them at first. But the good news is, they do wear down and you'll be able to chew and eat solid food like normal.

Hang in there! :)

I got my braces 2/3 days ago and the blue things are on two of my mnolars too. None of my teeth meet and I'm struggling to eat too, however it can be considered a good thing because my teeth on the rare occasion that they do meet are really painful.

:-* Bwha ha haha......I also got 1 of them little blue monsters on my rear molars now. Had 2 then the left one fell off after a month and had it replaced. A week ago I ate some chicken and then had some crunch. Thought it was a small bone, so I took it out and threw it away without checking. About an hour later I realized my bite is totally off. Well this time it was the right side. Now I only have the left one after it was replaced. With all the corrections, my left molars now touch but none of my right molars. At first it was difficult to eat with the little monsters. Now that im used to them they fall off. Nothing to stress about. Its just put on your teeth so you dont bite down on the brackets. Mine are useless after 2 months. I had a very deep curve of spee.

Relax and enjoy the blue buildups. They wont bother for very long.
