Ive hated my smile, my teeth and my face for as long as I can remember. I recently turned 25 and am finally embarking on my long, probably complicated journey to my perfect smile. I have an underbite so will require double jaw surgery, I also have a crossbite so my front teeth are nowhere near central to my face, I have a narrow upper jaw too, which is why my teeth are so.. wild!
I got my braces fitted yesterday, 8 molar bands (which was horrible!) I haven't even tried to eat properly yet just sipping soup and hot chocolate as things feel so tender.
I feel completely overwhelmed at the moment, happy that I am finally on my way to a nicer smile but also really sad. I know this will be lifechanging for me and make me so much happier and confident, but I know this journey isn't going to be easy. I have a whole load of complicated stuff going on in my mouth. Just wish I had done something a long long time ago. I'll post up some pics when I'm feeling less raw about the whole thing. I am so ashamed of my teeth. I don't quite feel ready to show off my new metal mouth just yet.
Underbite, crossbite, crazy teeth!

Stay positive. Like you said you have started your journey and are doing something that will make you feel much better and confident about yourself at the end of your treatment.
There are some great blogs on here and the results are fantastic.
I presume that your jaw surgery will be done once your teeth are properly aligned?
I have yet to start my treatment, but after 2 years waiting I hope to get braced and sarpe surgery this year. I too have a cross bite, very narrow upper arch and facial assymetry, which has eaten away slowly at my confidence as I get older. I've just turned 37 and although I am not looking forward to my treatment as I will feel even more self conscious once braced up but I hope to have it completed before the big 4-0!
Thanks for sharing and look forward to reading about your progress.

Be proud that you finally making the move to having your teeth fixed. I also will be having double jaw surgery an will be close to or 42 when it happens but at least we are doing something.

Re: Underbite, crossbite, crazy teeth!
My upper arch is narrow too and have zero facial symmetry! My ortho and surgeon don't really have a plan as such yet, just that braces and surgery are needed. And possibly a dental implant as I have a tooth missing from treatment when I was a kid. It sounds like they are waiting to see how my teeth move with the braces.
Hopefully by my 30th birthday I'll be all sorted! Its nice to know that it's not just teenagers that get braces
I feel about 12 at the moment!,
