As a matter of fact, just a few hours ago! I thought my ortho was only going to explain me how the treatment would be like, and after watching my x-rays, impressions and lab results he asked me if I wanted to have them on at that moment (molar bands weren't applied, so he could do it at any time). So, I said yes. Only my bottom brackets were applied, uppers will be on in a couple of months. I gotta say I was kinda nervous, but all was very quick and didn't have any discomfort at all, of course, I feel pressure on my teeth, but discomfort is minimum -at least at this point-, let's see tomorrow (I already have lots of Tylenol in case an analgesic were needed). I got metal brackets as well as a power chain. I've already tried cleaning my braces, and Gosh! Flossing was a nightmare! I hope to do it quicker as soon as aI get used to do it with all the brackets and wire on my lower teeth.

That is amazing! I'm glad you were able to get them on already even if they are just on the bottom! Is there a reason you just got them on the bottom now? Typically the pain sets in by the next day so keep those Tylenol tablets handy! Also, if you experience soreness, salt water rinse and Orajel are wonderful. I do understand your flossing troubles, the first night I got them and tried to floss, it was a complete nightmare. All I could accomplish in about half an hour before I gave up was flossing between a few teeth as I kept shredding the floss. I gave in and bought a Waterpik that night and find it to be the best thing ever. Also, did you get spacers for your molar bands on the bottom? They are possibly the worst things ever. Anyway, I look forward to seeing your progress pictures as you move along.VCLX wrote:PhDGuy wrote:Congratulations on making the decision! My ortho says he prefer to close the lower gaps first prior to work the upper jaw, he told me that placing the upper brackets too would only promote more dental plaque. I felt a bit disappointed for not having my upper braces too, but well, it's only a couple of months. I think I will have to buy a Waterpik too, it took me about half an hour to to have my teeth flossed -only the lower jaw-! As the upper teeth are still free of braces, I did it as always, very quick. And no, I didn't have any spacers on, that surprised me a bit, I only have my last brackets with tubes, as the main thing is closing gaps, as these are closed, the molar bands will be places later. A bit weird, but sounds ok for me, as most friends had already told me the same as you, spacers hurts a lot.
