New to the board

#1 Post by diamant »

Hi! I just joined the board and thought I'd introduce myself -

I got my braces 11 days ago (Nov 5) at the age of 30. I have ceramics on top, metal on bottom, and bite blocks on my two top middle incisors (talk about annoying!). My treatment is estimated to take 26 months, and I know I have a TPA wire also in my future. We're working to correct a lot of misalignment, a pretty deep bite, and a crossbite on the sides. Ack!

So far things have been pretty smooth (well, other than not being able to chew anything because none of my teeth are touching anymore!), not a whole lot of pain, and I'm much less self-conscious about my braces than I expected to be.

Each time I look in the mirror I'm hoping to see great drastic changes, but alas, no such luck yet.

I've loved reading this board, it was especially helpful to me in the weeks leading up to getting braced by helping me figure out what to expect and all that. Here's to hoping the next 26 months go smoothly! :-1

Hi diamant! Welcome! I hope you get quick results. It's fun to see all the change happening. I try to snap a picture of my smile at least once a month and compare. I'm 8 months in. 12 to go if everything goes well :)
