I agree! When I was laying in the chair with the plastic contraptions and continuous suction in my mouth and she's doing all the little prep things and then the brackets were getting glued on I remember thinking "I can't believe I'm doing this. I'm really getting braces put on, I'm really laying in this chair getting it done!" I had thought about it for several years, ever since I had the ortho do a quick peek at my teeth when my first kid got braces and he said there were some bite issues that he'd love to fix.

I bought a toddler toothbrush today because it was extra soft and has kind of an empty space of bristles in the center. It felt so much better than my regular brush. This is life right now. Kind of funny when you think about it.

"I can't believe this is my life right now" sums up many aspects of my life. LOL.

Day 10 in braces. I can't wait for my first adjustment because I am excited about picking more exciting colors.

I am 37 and legit excited.

So I'm going to a small event tonight with lots of people I know. This is the first time anyone else will see me with my braces, except the cashier at the grocery store. Why am I nervous? I'm not supposed to care what other people think anymore. I guess I really don't care, I'm just more of an introvert so people pointing things out about me makes me jittery. I'll get through it though. It's not that big of a deal. It's not like people have never seen braces before, right? I mean my kid has them right now too.

In two years and one week with braces only a handful of people have brought it up. Some of my closest friends never said a word about them. I think that people assumed that I was embarrassed about them at the beginning and then too much time passed for them to acknowledge the braces were there. I wonder if anyone will say anything when I get them off on April 20! :D
Braces installed on March 25, 2014: Damon clears on top and metal on bottom.

I had a big meeting with a client yesterday and it was the first time we were meeting face-to-face. All I could think about was my braces and if it would make me seem unprofessional.

I had to have like a mini mental meeting with myself like ..."Ok, Emily, if you met an adult with braces would you think they were immature? No? Okay then!"

I would almost think they would make you look more professional. An adult taking charge of their dental health and taking the time, effort, and money to correct something important.

Never too old for once's health. 50 yr old - Damon Braces - to correct 4mm overbite. 1 month 5 days with braces. Treatment plan is 24 months, but ORTHO says might be less. Upper braces were placed and felt slight sore and slight pain one -two days, but VERY manageable. Lower braces 10 days later and sore 1 day and less pain. Plus, I had molar bites. This was the challenge first few days, but managed after a few days. Eating adjustments were made to adjust and continue to feel well. No major pain during the process. I am a Program Manager and work constantly with people and not many have noticed the braces. In fact, a co-worker at 48 yrs had his braces last year and female co-worker at 45 got hers late Dec of 2015. Damon Braces were recommended and truly glad to have made the decision for Damon Braces. All for the sake of our health. Never too old! :D (1 month 5 days with Damon Braces.)

So, two weeks in and I've lost 5lbs. Hope it continues for a bit longer. My lips over my incisors are getting more sore when I talk, my incisors protrude a little. I don't think that's going to improve any time soon because they are turning them toward the front, so gradually the bracket will move and just keep the new places inside my lip raw just enough to be irritating. :P

I am having that same issue. When I talk/smile my lips almost get stuck over the brackets on my incisors. Blah.

As if it wasn't awkward enough eating with one of those terrible spoons from Wendy's, doing it with braces is worse. In all my life they have had that same terrible deep design. The Frosty was good though.

Lady in front of me at the track meet in full metal braces. (Snacking on redskin peanuts no less) Lady in front of her with full ceramic and rubber bands. I'm astonished to find three braced adults in one place at the same time. :-*
