Hello!
My name is Sarah and I am 24 years old from Melbourne in Australia.
I have had lots of issues in my life which prevented me from perusing orthodontics at a younger age and have since become a full time teacher and now have the money and the time is right for me to get braces!
I had my first consult this morning had impressions taken and photos taken and I have to go back in 3 weeks to discuss the plan and cost etc.
He mentioned that I will probably need
SARPE (I think that's what he said)
Braces
Jaw surgery to fix a few things
This is all to create a beautiful smile and to straighten my teeth before I get a front tooth removed for an implant!! All while I am trying to plan a wedding ( which will be in a few years now I know the timing and surgery I will need!!
I can't wait to hear some of your stories and read lots of them!!

Good luck, Sarah, with your treatment. What an incentive, having your own wedding to look forward to at the end of treatment! Are you planning to start training to be a teacher or are you already qualified? Training - or teaching - will certainly take your mind off things! I work in Key Stage 2 - kids aged between 7 and 11 yrs and they certainly distracted me!

Hi sarah
I'm from Melbourne too! I just had a consult today with my third orthodontist (I wanted options) first told me sarpe then braces but the other two seemed confident they can fix it without surgery because most of my front teeth are tilted inwards way more than normal.
I too am also planning my wedding haha (engagement will be set back a bit due to costs of braces and moving houses)
Such an exciting time for us. I will make sure to follow your story!

Wow I thought they would take measurements and know for sure if they could correct it.... Mine did on my X-Ray's.
