I'm a newbie, I'm 41 and have decided to have braces again. I discussed it recently with my dentist and introduced me to invasilign. I wasn't sure which to go for was thinking clear ones either them or ceramic braces. I had my first consultation with the orthodontist last week at the same dental practice centre.
I used to have full braces (the metal ones) when I was in my mid teens for 3 years and had the top and lower jaw surgery.
I've been thinking to have braces again for some time to fix the front lower teeth which looks bit crowded. When I've had discussions with the closest people I know, family, friends and work to see what they think about it, and to get their support. I haven't had much support from a close friend and some people at work. I just put it down to, it's up to me what I want to do! And as I work in a store serving customers, which my confidence with my smile try to hide while I'll be wearing them on, in time I'll get used it. And I've seen a few adults wearing braces.
When I saw the orthodontist discussed what treatment plan I could have, meaning I would be back in metal braces only for the lower. I requested ceramic ones, so they're not noticeable. Said I couldn't have those due to the top teeth bite would loosen the ceramic brace on bottom teeth. I've been sent away to think about go ahead with treatment. Which I'm thinking of going ahead with it. It's like my lower teeth are shouting at me to go get it done!

Re: Newbie and wanting braces again
My Ortho said they didn't like to do ceramics on the bottom because they are harder than enamel. That being said, I know there are people on here who have lower ceramics. You may want to get second opinion.
