Getting off the couch & other physical movements

#1 Post by SandyCheeks »

Hi Guys,

I've missed y'all so much!!!! I've been searching the forum for topics on exercise, fitness, running, jogging and not finding much. I guess all the upkeep on our dental work keeps us indoors! :) I'll be braced on Feb 17 :D and I've got several concerns /questions about all sort of activities I should be doing:

Swimming - How soon I can swim after my braces go on?

Running - I've started jogging as one of my 2006 resolutions  I haven't been aware of how I've been clenching my teeth while I run.

Weights (at the gym) - another teeth clenching moment

Sleeping - Can I still sleep on my side?

Yes, I will also ask my orthodontist too - but his answers would be quite different from YOUR EXPERIENCES. Thanks again for your help!!!!

I haven't had any problem with weights. Also, I sleep on my side. When my braces hurt, I was really careful doing it, but I've had no pain for two weeks or so, so no sleep troubles there!

I wouldn't really worry about any sort of physical activity hurting your braces' job or whatever. As far as I know you can do everything you do now with braces on (well with the exception of eating everything you want, but you already know that :), just be aware of what you're doing, where your mouth is, etc.

Good luck and have fun! :D
Damon 2's top and bottom, BRACED 02/22/04 and REMOVED 08/29/05. Now in bonded retainers (top and bottom) :4 wisdom teeth surgically removed on 12/22/05:

The secret is to "be Baywatch Bionic" (If you can't do it fast then look damn good doing it slow)

Thanks again!
