48 years old. Braces go on Monday. Already flossed out a spacer that was put in on Thursday. Had my first date since my divorce on Friday. Another date set for next Saturday. She doesn't know I am getting braces. Second thoughts big time.

Congrats satchmo
If I were you I really wouldn't worry about the dating issue and braces. After all, its not a permanent feature and its going to improve the look of your teeth. If the person you are dating cannot see past the brace issue, then they probably aren't the right person for you in the long run...
This is going to be a life long decision. If you decide not to do it because you are afraid, then I guarantee you will regret it a few years down the line..
Hope the brace day goes without a hitch.. Be sure to report back on your progress

I'm 31 years old and just got braced on 4-7-06. I worried a lot about dating and having braces before I got mine on. I met a guy a month before I got my braces on and was so worried he would lose interest in me because of how silly I would look in braces....not to mention all the awkwardness from having them on. Turns out, I was making more of a big deal about it than he ever did. The braces doesn't bother him at all. He actually made me feel silly because I worried about it so much!
Satchmo, sjsarre is right....braces are not a permanent feature and you're improving yourself. That's a very positive move on your part. People should be impressed that you're brave enough to do something like this...especially as an adult. It's very admirable
