Over 50s

#16 Post by Jill52 »

Hi Lindy, I had exactly the same question! I'm almost 52 and I've just started on this journey. I'm so glad to make contact with others out there who are older. My orthodontist assured me that 30 percent of his clients were adults, but by adult I think he means over 18. I am surrounded by children when I go for a visit, so I do feel out of place. However, I'm thrilled to be doing this for myself and congratulations to you for doing it too! Best of luck - Jill

I'm 60 and just entering my second month of having braces. I have Damon's top and bottom, and I'm see some real movement in my teeth already. A long way to go yet, of course, but I'm excited to be taking this positive step for myself. Congratulations to you!
p.s. Hi Jill, it's good to read your post!

I am 55 and got my first six brackets Wednesday. I've decided to have fun with this adventure. I chose pink rubberbands this time and will have a different color each month. I have to go lipstick shopping now!!

I am 54 and will get braces in March. How is it going for you. I am both nervous and excited.

Hi Eureka,
Congratulations on deciding to get braces!
Like you I was nervous and excited before getting braced. You'll soon get used to the braces and you'll really enjoy seeing how your teeth change (and that starts to happen quite quickly for most people). I'm 56, by the way.
Good luck on your Brace Day!
SusieR: I like the idea of lipstick to match the ligs. My braces don't have ligatures but I do have big metal earrings to match the braces - I think it's nice to draw attention to braces as I'm proud I'm doing this for me and my teeth...
All the best, LITT
