Finally on the road to straighter, better, brighter teeth...

Hello everyone.
I go by the name of Iceolated online. It's a play on words because where I live is both very cold and quite remote. I also never use my real name on line, so it's simply Iceolated or Ice for short.
Today, I got started on what will be upper and lower braces and 24 months of treatment to straighten out what I think are my rather poorly aligned teeth. Although I have looked at some of the stories posted on here and I can see that I am not facing as great a challenge as some people have, nethertheless I wanted an improvement in my smile.
Today my ortho's staff did all my x-rays, impressions, photos and molds. They also placed some spacers between my upper rear molars to make some room. May 2 is when I get my hardware and arch wires installed...."hardwired" I like to call it.
I am very very excited about what this will do for my smile and also my self esteem. I have always had a closed lip smile because of the alignment and color of my teeth. I didn't see any point in whitening while they weren't straight and so I decided that as an adult now almost 31 years of age I would get braces.
Total price is almost $5100 and I'm sure it would have been much less to get these problems fixed before they 'occured' had I worn braces as a teenager. But like many families, mine didn't have the resources to do that and so I learned to hide what I saw as an unpretty smile.
But now that I am all grown up! I can get braces on my own. My wife has been very supportive of the decision both emotionally and financially as she and I are both aware that this is not a small purchase.
Hoping to get to know lots of other people who have also taken, are undertaking or contemplating what is sure to be an interesting journey.
Cheers,
Ice
