Newly Braced Aussie

Ive been posting in the Metal Mouth forum for a few days, but realised I havent introduced myself yet. Im Kate, from Melbourne Australia, and have been braced since Wednesday.
I had braces when I was 10-12 years old, followed by retainers etc, but after my bottom bonded retainer was removed, my lower teeth did a bit of a moved slowly, which wasnt a worry until they pushed one of my front teeth forward.
So I went back to my Ortho after a 5 year break, and he gave me a number of options. If it didnt bother me, I could leave it alone. Or I could fix just top, just bottom, or both. This could be done using a plate which could take 2 or more years, or with braces. I asked about clear brackets, but he said they would not give the moveability that the semi-clear or full metal brackets provide...
So last week I went in to pay the bill for the consultation, and was promptly booked in for two days later for the bracing
It was all a bit full-on as we did photos, moulds and the bracing all in one 90 minute appointment. We opted for the half-clear brackets on the top, but ended up with metal brackets on the bottom cos my bite means Im hitting them, and he feared that I would be constantly breaking brackets if I had the clears on the bottom.
I have no ligs either which Im quite pleased with. Im very partial to a curry or three, so not having to worry about staining is great. Though some of my brackets still have a bit of colour (pink and green) which was used during placement so that each one went in the right spot.
Prior to my banding I had this smile:

Not too bad, but enough to annoy me, and I spend a lot of time picking food from between my front lowers..
Post banding:

I cant floss between my front teeth already, the gap is gone, but not having any problems keeping them clean. Wax is my friend!
Another thing I love about these brackets is less appointments; dont have to go back till July!
