I finally did it!

#1 Post by Kriz »

Hey there!

I am gald to see there are many more adults out there in the world who get braces on thier teeth. I just want to thank everyone for the great site and information. I am a 27 year old, and got my brackets 1 week ago today. I am going for my 4 premolar extractions tomorrow. I have a wonderful oral surgeon doing the dirty work.. thank goodness he is going to knock me out for it.. he knows i am a wuss. hehe

Anyway I have ceramic uppers and metal lowers. The first day was weird, but manageable, the second and third day was awful. I had pain from the brackets and my Fiance called me "wax girl" because I waxed my entire bottoms hehe. I am doing great now, not needing wax at all now :) I am expected to be in braces for 28 months. I think I still sound funny when I speak but others tell me i dont.. (im not sure if they would tell me or not),.

Well there is my first weeks story.. more to come ;)

Thanks for all the support guys :). The extractions went great! I was knocked out for most of the day so I really didnt feel much. I had a hard time with stopping the bleeding, took like 12 hours to stop. I am doing much better now. Now i cant wait to close these gaps!

There was a dental student there at my extraction and she wanted to know if she could keep my teeth for her project.. I told her, "Well they wont help me anymore so sure!" hehe She was excited. I know how is feels to be a student trying to get a project done. I am a pharmacist and had to do crazy stuff too. :) I did get to see my teeth before she took them and WOW they were HUGE! I think the most painful expierence in the whole extraction was the lidocaine shots. I had to get like 4 in the roof of my mouth.. OUCH that hurt! But then it only hurt for a sec-- then numbness kicked in.

Anyway thanks again for the support! I will update soon.. I goota find my camera so i can get some pics on here.. just moved so its packed somewhere ;)
