Hi, I'm an Orthodontic nurse from the south of England. I recently had my Damon 3 braces removed and I'm now learning to cope with my bonded retainers (I've sussed that popcorn is hard work to get rid of)! I'm so pleased I went for it!

What with my treatment, working in Orthodontics, most of my collegues (including my Orthodontist) in fixed appliances, they're taking over my life!

A patient let me know about this website-it's great for people who are taking the plunge and going for it, and will be passing it along! I'll be looking for tips too!!

It makes such a difference that we've had treatment, and know what our patients are going thru! I can sympathise with them much more, and can give out much better advise! My orthodontist has been practicing for nearly 20 years, he only had his braces on in may! It's amazing how much his advise has changed! He has managed to come up with some top tips though! His best is, when eating out, drink some fizzy water, and let it run over your brace, the bubbles help dislodge any stuck food, avoiding any awkward 'stuck spinich' moments!!

It's also better for our patient's confidence-if your Orthodontist has braces, they must work well! And who would trust an orthodontist with a poor smile?!

Now, if he just stopped measuring how much they've moved every day and let the wire get on with things I'm sure It'd be easier!!
