Hello All,
I've been reading the posts for a while now and this site is great. I found it while looking for before and after brace pics. All all the info, pics, and good vibes coming from this site is awesome so I joined. I'm going to do the paper work thing tomorrow and soon after I hope start my journey.
Stats:
age: 34
Location: Maryland
Mood: excited, but kinda nervous about the pain after adjustments
Here you can see I have a lil crowding at the bottom and my uppers are pushed forward. Also to be picky my k9s' are uneven. I'm hopin' for maybe 13 months, but we will see.

Congratulations on your decision to begin orthodontic treatment. If you haven't already done so, I do suggest you go to a few orthodontic consultations to get various opinions - I went to four consultations. With going to multiple evaluations, you learn such things as, you may find that you really feel comfortable with a certain ortho, prefer one treatment plan over the others, what's the support staff like?, convenience of location of the office, payment plans, etc. Be sure to ask all the questions that you have.
You may have already gone to a few consultation or you may have found the ortho you went to is fine with you. Going to a few evaluations was important to me because I knew I would be a patient there for a length of time and wanted to have an orthodontist and support staff that I felt comfortable with. My ortho and his staff are the greatest and kindest people. I really enjoy my appts.
By the way, once you get the braces placed, you will probably get use to them quickly and if for some reason your treatment time exceeds 13 months, you probably won't even care. I found that my main goal is to have my teeth look the best they can and if it takes longer than the estimated time then it's fine with me.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Hey!
I just got braces myself last friday.
Don't worry too much about the pain. As long as you don't chew you don't feel it at all, the first days it hurts when you eat, but there are enough delicious soft things and actually i enjoyed going to the supermarket and check out on 'new' soft food. I didn't have to take painkillers.
And if the metal hurts your cheeks (that happened to me two days after i got braces) there's wax, so there's a solution for everything

Well I had my temp wire removed and replaced with a wire that connects all my teeth. When do these power chains come into play, is that toward the home stretch? A lil discomfort nothing major, I dont need to take any pain killers which is cool. I got back toward the end of May.
