Proud to be a part of this forum. I have fantasized about having straight teeth since I was about 9 or 10 and it is finally about to become a reality.
I have severe crowding caused by a very narrow palate and have been self concious and ashamed of my teeth ever since I can remember. After years of root canals and crowns, my dentist has given me the ok and the ortho has set the date. March 13!! I am sooo excited. I will be getting Damon 3s. My husband is giving me smiling lessons because I have learned to speak and smile without showing my teeth. HA!
I wanted to let you all know that this site has been extremely helpful. It was a huge relief to know that I wont be the only 40ish with braces out there and the info I have picked up here has given me alot more confidence when choosing an ortho.
Thanks Archwired!

Welcome !!

Thanks, Newmetal. I have been lurking for many a month and it feels good to finally post. You can get a ticker from tickerfactory.com
Go to the "how do I" forum to read how to post.

I mean that the option to have a ticker doesnt kick in 'til about 20 posts. You have one already, thats a good sign

Hi Neysa! Welcome to the board! I've noticed that I started smiling more immediately after I got my braces on. It's weird - I thought I'd smile less! All my life, people have been telling me to smile and I always thought I was, but now I realize I was hiding it before. Good luck with your bday! Let us know how it goes.

I think Neysa pasted her ticker directly into the post itself. The 20 messages rule applies to placing your ticker in your signature, which you'll be able to edit when you hit that 20ish posts mark.

Wow now that I found this site I am amazed to realize that others have been doing the same thing. I truly thought I was the only one who perfected the art of not showing her teeth. People have actually said "I didn't know you had teeth problems". I would think ,if you only knew!! Good Luck on your journey! I get braced on Tuesday. Yippee

I did not relise I was not supposed to have a ticker yet.

Sorry.
I must have been suffering from "ticker envy". Thank you all for the encouragement. It wont take me long to get to 20 posts!

Sorry again. I kept getting an error message when trying to submit the post and so tried a few more times. I am not very good at this forum stuff but I promise to do better.
