Revised Consultation Appointment

Not really sure this is worthy of a post but my first initial consult which was due for this Wednesday has been cancelled due to double-booking at the orthos.

This may sound a little silly but I was really looking forward to it as now that I have made the decision to go and get something done about my smile I just want things to start immediately.

Anyway, I will now have to wait until Friday 13 April which I hope is not some sort of sign.

I have also had a good chat with my wife and have told her that I expect to be wearing braces soon. This is may sound a very obvious thing to do but I found that actually saying out loud "I am happy to get braces" was a big step and once I had said it I knew I was 100% happy with my decision.

Over the last few days I have also noticed that my jaw movement appears a little strange as rather than a straight up and down movement, my bottom jaw moves slightly down to the left before going straight down- is this normal and is there somewhere I can find out more about bites and what makes a perfect bite ?

After being very impressed and encouraged by the responses to previous posts, I have to say that I think this site is fantastic and a wonderful help. Being able to "talk" about what is going on to people in similar situations is very very useful indeed.

Many thanks

Mike

That's disappointing Mike. I know how you feel. After my records appointment I had to wait nearly 2 months before they could schedule me for brace day. I didn't think March 13th was ever gonna get here. I was so excited when it got here I was giddy going into the ortho office. I was also braced on the 13th but it was a Tuesday. Still, no bad omens or superstitious thoughts Mike, its just another day. But you might throw some salt over your shoulder for luck just in case  (Just kidding!)

Sorry about the double &/or triple posts today on comments. I didn't realize they were going through. Some Debugging message keeps popping up.... :?

Becks, thank you for your response and I am counting down the days to April 13. I have a ton of questions which I hope I remember to ask (I will get round to writing them down) and I also hope I don't have to wait 2 months before brace day.

Karen, thanks for all of the great advice and I have another appointment scheduled for 23 April as a second opinion. I come from a fairly small town so there isn't a huge amount of choice so hopefully both opinions will be similar.

As mentioned above, I am just impatient to get going after all of these years putting it off.

Dont believe Friday the 13th being a bad sign. Just stay optimistic no matter what date you go there.

I hoped to not wait 2 month as well, at the end I had to wait 4 months and couldn't await to finally get things fixed, but time goes so fast I already have 1/6 of my 3 year treatment behind me and it feels like I got braces yesterday.

so keep us updated and best wishes =)
