Hello,
I'm glad I found this site. I found out this Tuesday that I will definitely need braces. :( I was trying to go the veneer route but my dentist really talked or I should say shamed me out of it. I'm moving ahead, I got my xrays, impressions done. I go to the regular dentist on April 16th for prework, She also shares the office with the orthodontist, for a full cleaning, floride treatment and replacement of 2 fillings, then the following week April 26th I get braced. I'll be sure to post and let everyone know how I'm doing as I feel completely alone.

I'll have ceramic on top and metal on bottom. I keep telling myself they are in vogue and my teeth will be beautiful afterwards. :) I'll keep you all posted. NIce to meet everyone and I can't say enough I'm so glad I found this site. :)

Keeping a positive attitutde will help immensely. KK, one of the moderators, has a list of pre-bracing things to do and I'm sure she'll post it. I wanted to get veneers too, instead of braces, but I couldn't. Sorry to hear you say that your doc "shamed" you out of them... that's not cool. No need to feel alone. This is a great site with alot of supportive, encouraging members filled with information and insight. Best of luck to you and please do post pics :)

I'll post pics. My dentist is actually really nice, and up front with me. She said it would break her heart to cut away at my in her words "Beautiful Healthy teeth" She said orthodontics would be best, she said once you have veneers you have to keep them, they are not reversible. I think the fact I'm in IT professionally I would be fitting the geek stereotype. I'm planning on having fun with them. I told my coworkers and joke with them telling them this is my grill. LOL I'm proud of myself for taking this step, it wasn't easy. I almost fainted when they said braces!! But I'm realizing I'm not the only adult wearing them, and people are supportive of people taking care of their teeth. :) I'll say it again, I"m really glad I found this site. :)

Hi SB29
My husband calls my braces a grill also and I think its a riot. I like to think of them as my "bling". Instead of hiding them like I thought I would, I find myself smiling hugely for the first time in my life because I am proud of the fact that I am doing something about my awful teeth instead of living around and in spite of them.
Best of luck!
