Just Got The Braces On

#1 Post by NinjaJenn »

I'm really glad I found this forum when I did - Day 2 of my braces while feeling really silly with the darn things on my teeth.

I'm 21 now and my braces went on Tuesday. While I was in high school it was strongly suggested that I get braces and lower jaw surgery to fix my overbite. While it would have been easier to be a teen in braces I had a lot going on at the time and knew I wasn't able to handle braces on top of it all at the time so I opted to wait a few years. It's now been a few years and the braces are on.

I hate the braces. I feel like I look 5 years younger than I really am. I actually had a lady ask me the other day what high school I go to. However, I plan on going back to school in the fall to take Early Childhood Development and my braces are estimated at coming off around the time I graduate (2 and a half years from now) so I'm staring to feel like these next 2 and a half years are my years to better myself and make positive changes in my life.

Hello and welcome, ninja! :D

I know it feels silly at first, but you'll be having a year or two of discomfort for a lifetime with a bee-u-tiful smile!

welcome!

I am on month 3 (I've had 2 adjustments already) and I got used to having braces pretty quickly. I was told I'd be in braces 14-16 months, and in month 3, I see some AMAZING changes, I couldn't be happier at how things are progressing --- which is a good thing, because seeing progress helps keep me on the right track and reinforces the good decision I made.

I'm sure things will go just as well for you, keep a positive attitude and do what your ortho says and you too will be amazed!

take care,
Christy
