Hi everyone!
I did it...got my braces on today. The ortho put both top and bottom on. It didn't really hurt - I thought the worst part was the (ice!) cold water and air they blew on the teeth (especially the back molars) was the most uncomfortable to me.
They told me to go take an Advil and then go eat a big lunch because my mouth will hurt tonight. So...I tried to go have lunch with my son. I got about three bites total of my sandwich done - bread is impossible to eat! I felt like my entire mouth was full of that soggy, icky bread. My son's teachers were at the cafe where we ate lunch - they came over to say hello and I had to cover my mouth and explain I just got braces...I'm sure they lost their appetite after seeing my bread covered braces! haha.
Anyway, so far eating is the worst. We'll see how tonight goes. My next appointment is in 10 weeks. Ortho said he will keep putting in bigger wires until I'm at the largest and I may possibly have to have rubber bands for my bite, but we'll just wait and see on that. He did say that things should move fairly quickly, so that's good!
I'm going to go find one of those countdown things on the web and add it to my signature!

Hi Theresa,
You got your braces on - yippeeeee! You are that much closer to getting them off
Mine are scheduled for July 9th and I am a bit anxious about it. How do they feel on you tonight? Are your teeth sore? I think that is the part that freaks me out the most.......sore teeth. I will get through it if the outcome means perfectly straight teeth!!!!

Congratulations Theresa! Can't wait to hear how you are faring and possibly see pictures? Also, how's your husband doing?

Hi!
It's been almost two weeks since I got my braces and I am finally able to eat a little more normally. My teeth feel really "loose" and biting down
on anything still feels different. Sigh! I'm just remembering the days when I just ate anything and everything without thinking!
My mouth and teeth hurt for a good week. I think I was taking Advil for about 8 days. I don't know if I'm wimpy-er than other people or what! For a few days the inside of my mouth was so sore from the metal rubbing on it. It's toughened up now though.
One odd thing I noticed is that I seem to wake up with my jaw clenched. I don't know why that would be. I never did that before my braces!
OhNichole - my husband doesn't say much anymore. Just a comment every day or so. I'm just ignoring it. Easier than getting upset about it. Nothing I can do about it now.
