21 and the Long-Awaited Braces!

#1 Post by hachi08 »

Hi, everyone! Call me Hachi ^_^

I'm 21 years old and have been wanting braces since I was in elementary school! I've always had really crowded teeth, both uppers and lowers, but when I was a kid I took a serious spill that chipped my front left tooth and it shifted severely out of line from the rest of my teeth. >< After some delays, I'm finally getting my spacers in week-after-next and my braces the following Friday. I'm so excited!

But first I have to get all four of my first bicuspids extracted next week. >< I just got my wisdom teeth out, so in comparison this should be a piece of cake. ^_^; Anyway, nice to meet you all! I'm looking forward to browsing the forums and sharing our mutual adult braces experiences~

How exciting! I'm so glad that you are now able to get the braces you've been wanting. It's some work, but you'll benefit from it for a long long time!! Just imagine that smashing smile that you will have!

Thanks, guys! The braces went on yesterday and BOY is my mouth sore  Of course, I've I had my wisdom teeth pulled last month then my first premolars a few weeks later, so I'm pretty used to mouth pain by now, haha.

The main problem I'm having so far is that the orthodontist attached bite buttons to my upper lateral incisors (the ones between the canine and front teeth) and now NONE of my teeth touch anymore, so in addition to the soreness that makes it painful to chew, I can't chew at all because none of my teeth come together to make a chewing surface anymore :? So I've ended up having to eat only food that can be swallowed without chewing or really soft foods that I can mush against the roof of my mouth with my tongue T_T
