im just really anxious. i had the oportunity to have my braces put on this last thurs. but my work wouldnt let me off, so i had to re make my appt. i had to re make it for the 4rd.of feb.!!! i wanted them done as soon as possible so i wouldn't be worrying anf freaking out like i am now. i was afraid that i would change my mind, like i'm having thoughts of now. anyway i guess what i wanna know is did anybody else think last minute of changing their minds? i'm actually excited about it but so i wonder why i'm feeling this way. im 27, i dont look it, more like 20, 21ish. but i guess im just nervous. tell me about how you all felt when you were almost at your brace day. i need a little encouragment.
Thanx,
Rachael

Don't change your mind!! It feels a little rough at first, but they soon just become a part of your world, and seeing the changes are worth it! You will love your teeth when that happens....and you will be happy you did it!! good luck!!

Guess you'll have to think about your motivation for getting the braces and decide. I rationalized mine to be 1/3 aesthetics, 1/3 health, and 1/3 business (since I deal with people everyday for my job). I probably would not do it if it was purely for aesthetic reasons. Only you can decide Rachel.
If you do decide to do so, it's pretty cool knowing that you won't be the only adult in braces huh?

I HIGHLY doubt you will regret it! I am very anxious about everything involved in getting braces but also very excited. Just know that there will be a day when you start to see things moving and you'll realize how worth it it is!
I know from looking at some of the pictures and reading the stories from others on here, I am very encouraged.

You will not regret it. I am 21 years old and work in a dental office. So I see teeth all the time. And those who have or who have had braces would not chnage their minds.
You wont have to hide your smile anymore...well after the braces
I say go for it. If it will make you feel better then do it.
Good luck on your decision

Don't change your mind!!!!!! It will only get better, I have had mine on for 21 days now (metal lowers/ceramic uppers) and while the first week was pretty rough, it's getting better and I am SO glad I did this! I am 31, work full time, have 3 kids... so I am out everyday facing the world...and the fact is...no one else cares that you have braces...and for those that do, they are genuinely interested and not judging you! Yes, I can't wait for this to be over...but I am thrilled I have these babies on my teeth and that we were in a position to do this finally!! Good luck!!!!

Go for it! I am 37 and a professional who does a lot of client interaction and public speaking, so believe me, I am the last person that wants to do this, especially since I already am self conscious of my smile.
So...today was the day that I went in for my spacers...I was so nervous and in near tears! This whole past weekend was very emotional for me and I even cried a few times. But, I got to the dentist today and I was really nervous, but I did it, they put the spacers in (piece of cake, it felt like they were putting thick floss inbetween your teeth) and tomorrow I get the brackets and then they finish me up next week. I feel so relieved that I stayed on course and am going through with it. I did have some second thoughts over the weekend, but now I have it started...so here I go.
Don't worry too much. I think the time will go by fast for you and you will be so happy with the results!
im gonna go for it

Hi rachael
I'm 5 days into my journey. I'd like to echo what the others have said. I'm probably the biggest worrywort around - seriously! - and if I can do it, anyone can.
Good luck!!!

Just do it! I went through the same process - even postponing the spacers in / brackets on appointments twice. I was incredibly nervous about taking that first step, but once they were on I actually felt relieved.

Good for you, Rachel! I considered backing out after my consultation (even after paying a deposit) but I guess I knew that if I didn't do it now, in 1, 5, 10 years I would consider it again and by that point I could have been done or almost done.

don't back out, they are not on for long and the results are dramatic- kepp thinking about why you wanted them in the first place.

You can do it Rachael! Glad to hear you're still going ahead with it! I kept questioning my decision up until about the week before (then I just got excited and wanted it done IMMEDIATELY). Anyway, nothing is as bad as you imagine it might be. People are very supportive of adults in braces - and really the only one who even thinks about your braces for more than a second will be you. It's only been three weeks for me but I can tell you I'm just happy to be on the road to a beautiful smile - I'm sure you will be too!
