I need braces top and bottom to correct a slight reverse bite - it looks as though this can be done without surgery (following xrays and impressions etc) - I was hoping to get away with invisible braces - slightly shy at my age having braces on top teeth - no problem with bottom - any advice ?

Hi Jaykay,

what does a reverse bite look like? Is it where teeth are tilted backwards?

Regards.

I just got my metal braces top and bottom on may 14. I too, have been self conscious about being in braces, which has caused me too put off doing this for about 15years. But unfortunately, my teeth are just getting worse, and it is no longer a cosmetic problem, it's a must do or loose the teeth, so here I am-----I went through 5 weeks of gum grafting surgery prior to placement for "thin gums" then right after that I was in the braces!! I am 38, so I know how you feel. I really wanted the ceramic on top 6, and asked right up until the day they went on, but ortho said he needed too much force on my front teeth and the ceramic weren't strong enough, he said he couldn't guarantee a good outcome with them. so, I didn't do it!! He said once the teeth have done most of their moving in 6months or so, if I want the top 6 changed (for a fee) he would do that---------my husband thinks in 6 months I'll be used to them, so why bother spending the money............I guess we'll see!! Hoping all went well for you on brace day!! Nice to go through this with others at the same time, isn't it!!

Hi! I just turned 45 a week ago, and I have had braces on for 9 months. I have ceramic on the top and metal on the bottom. It has worked out very well for me, nothing popping of so far, and the teeth look wonderful! Hope to get them off soon! Good luck to you!

Oh, can I relate. I'm 47 and have braces for the (groan) second time in my life. In my high school years, I lived with the few meal deal - all around every single tooth bands. So 30 years later, it's a bit cleaner - mini brackets but arch wires that just keep on pushing.

Still the tough stuff's all done. They're in, I've faced the entire office the past three weeks and I've lost some weight because it's too much bother to brush my teeth after snacking so I generally pass.
