I'm new to this message board, but finally got up the courage to make a post. I am 31 years old and was braced (bottom only) May 29 for a pretty significant overbite and overjet. I was told I could get away with bottom only for a few months, but when I went for my first follow up on June 24 (after biting off both canine brackets on the bottom), I was told my tops needed to be installed immediately.
So, I was a little self conscious at first.....however, my teeth have improved so much! And, at this point I don't even remember that I have braces until I try to eat...lol!
Anyhow, I've had two adjustments and I'm told that next time (Oct. 12) that we can start to "close some gaps". I hope that's a good thing since I don't have any "gaps"...
18 to 20 months is my expected treatment time.
