Hi Guys,
First post here, am 3 days in braces and looking for some support along the journey! Like many people, I have waited and procrastinated for years about getting braces and after turning 30 this year I just said it's now or never! Have ceramic In-ovation C's on top, treatment I believe is around 10 months and I reckon I will proceed with lower brackets in the next few months also as although they do not bother me as much as my top arch I think once my top teeth are straight then I will start to notice them all the more. My first day of braces I was fine but I am only in the last day or so getting the swollen lower face and really strained look in my eyes. I decided against using the wax as I thought it's better that my inner mouth gets used to the friction with the metal sooner rather than later but man the sores I have on both sides of my inner lips! I try to keep focusing on the end result, I have waited this long afterall. Any others out there getting braced pre- Christmas? I guess crispy roast potatoes are definitely off the menu now!

Hi
I too, was braced on Dec 23, 2009 looking at 15 to maybe 18 months
Cerimic on both top and bottom, Not to much pain , but hard adjusting
to it all. hoping it will be fine   in the end. Eating is so hard and family saying on come on you can eat anything. No , you can't, in due time. It has been a week and my face and moth is not as bad as it
once was. So maybe a good sign. Love this site it sure does help when
the times get down.

Hello,

Another pre-Christmas customer here. I got braced 12/3. 15-18 month treatment plan. Today is the 4 week mark. I have a couple teeth that are sore and make eating dfficult. I'm ok as long as I cut things up into bite size portions. Bitting into things is still tough. I keep telling myself it will be worth it in the end.

Getting a little better...

Hi 207 and Kinda Nervous, yes maybe pre-christmas bracing was not the best time with all of the extra goodies around! Isn't it funny how you have to rethink everything that you once took for granted and ask yourself now 'can I actually chew this or not'!? I have to say I feel a lot better now since my last post, my mouth is no longer swollen and no more canker sores and speaking is now back to normal. Had some friends visit over the christmas and I had to tell them I was wearing braces, they couldn't believe it as the ceramic brackets were so unnoticeable they said!

Kinda Nervous, I didn't know you could get ceramic on the bottom teeth too, are yours In-ovation C brackets? Hang in there, I keep looking at all the smily straight white teeth on the tv actresses and tell myself that will be me soon, I can't wait to get these off and get laser whitenening done! :D

207 are you seeing any movement 4 weeks in?

Hi Carly09, Glad to hear things have gotten better. Yes, surprisingly I have noticed some movement in 4 weeks. I suffer from crowding. I'm sure it will be a while before they are alighned, but a couple have moved straighter already. I can't wait to see what they look like in a few months. I don't want to wish time away, but sometimes I wish I could jump forward 6 months to see what they look like.
