Good morning. I've been reading this site for a few weeks now, getting all the information I can about what to expect from life in braces. Now, we're down to the "wire", and I get a full upper and lower rack installed this morning. I'm 46, and will have jaw surgery around the middle of this two-year adventure. My wife thinks I'm nuts...
Thanks though to this site I feel fairly well prepared for what is to come. Let the adventure begin!

Well by the time you read this, every thing will be all said and done. And I'm sure it wasn't half as bad as you thought it be! I can't want to read your first post-braces update.

My Journey
Well, it's been five days now and I'm happy to report that all is going well. Getting them on has been the worst part, the cold air blast to dry each tooth before cementing the brackets on was no fun at all. I've waited, cautiously, for the pain/soreness/discomfort to start, for the need to take Advil to start, and so far, it's been very minor. Not that I'm complaining!

That's great news! I hope your journey continues to be relatively pain free!

My Journey
Well, tomorrow makes two weeks. Still doing pretty well I must say. Being one who usually is very intolerant of aches and pains, I'm kind of surprised. The only issue has been two upper molars that have been screaming whenever they see the toothbrush coming. That is slowly decreasing, fortunately. In about a week I go back in and get some spacers driven into place. I have 6 crowns on the bottom that require bands, and they're not on yet. They're pretty close together and so they need to make room. I hear that should be fun...
