Hey! Good luck!

They're going to hurt like a hurty thing at first but soon they'll settle down into a more omnipresent pain rather than an "OMG" pain.

If you are of legal age, I suggest drinking. I do a lot of it. :) It works better than painkillers for me. Also, don't try to eat normally for a while. I lived on yogurt, blended soups, and cream of wheat for six weeks after my braces went on.

After a few weeks you'll barely notice them, to be honest. I'm already used to mine and I got them Dec 9th.

Ha! Drinking has certainly helped. There's a pork chop in every can of Guinness, right? I've been sore off and on but the pain is not near as bad as I thought it would be. Now I'm just annoyed with them. I like food but eating is such a chore that it really doesn't seem worth it. Good luck with your braces experience! Let me know how it's going.

I know what you mean about eating being a huge chore.

Sometimes I make dinner, sit down to eat, and end up eating two bites and then crying for a while because I'm too tired for the work of eating. It's annoying, because if I can't eat I can't go to the gym. Also the pain kind of wears me down.

That said, there are days when I manage to eat three times! That's always exciting. :) I miss salads, vegetables, fruit, things with texture, sandwiches, crunchy stuff... :/

However, braces-wise...it's been three months and my teeth have moved a LOT. My bottom teeth are a lot straighter and they are hauling my midline around to prepare for when they get my overbite and crossbite fixed, and currently they're closing the diastema between my upper central incisors and hauling everything back some, closing the gaps from having two of my premolars extracted. There's a lot of visible movement happening, and my front teeth are SO much closer together already, just four weeks in to starting to close them, that it's really amazing.

That's the payoff for the pain, I guess, is that it only hurts because things are happening, and so fast.

How are yours going?

Wow, that's great to hear that your teeth are moving so fast! I've had mine for exactly one week and I'm pretty used to them by now. Eating is still a pain in the butt. I was able to eat some salad the other day and it was pure heaven. I know what you mean about the gym...I was finally able to go yesterday and man I needed it.

I'm looking forward to seeing some movement!
