My name is Emma and I am a 25yr old from New Zealand. I have been braced for almost two months now and have my second adjustment this Thursday. I am hoping to have my braces on for a maximum of 12months, and then into retainers (permanent on bottom and hawley on top).
I have been amazed at how quickly my teeth have moved - my top teeth are almost perfectly in line after 2 months but my bottoms are going to take some serious work...... I have also noticed that I now smile more and I actually feel attractive with my braces, it took a long time but I finally feel so much happier for having them on!
Hi Emma, glad you are feeling better about your smile. You'll be done before you know it with beautiful straight teeth! I haven't been braced yet (6 days) and will only get them on the bottom, but I'm a bit worried about the first few weeks break-in period for me (my mouth) and the reaction from my coworkers if they notice. I already tried a removable hawley retainer on bottom which corrupted my speech, and that was at times very tough to deal with at work!
I hope my teeth line up as fast as you say yours did I have only had mine since yesterday morning so nothing will be happening for awhile. I'm also 25 and it doesn't seem like people are generally rude or forward about my braces, well, except for something rude my aunt said. Good luck on the 12 month mark I would LOVE to be able to cut mine down to 12 mine is so far at 15-18 months.
