Got them on Tuesday. There were 12-year-olds in that office who handled the procedure better, but I am adjusting. Job interview today was a little tricky due to the lisp but I managed. Best wishes to all for a straighter smile and I'll be lurking..

We both started this journey on Tuesday. What type did you get? I'm getting a quad helix and lower lingual installed this coming Tuesday....Can't imagine how this can get worse but I fear it will

Welcome...I am also in my mid 50s and newly braced on top (May) with ceramics and next week I will get the bottoms braced in metal brackets. It has been interesting, sometimes quite uncomfortable, but I am amazed at how fast my teeth are moving into a more aligned position. I understand the lisp! Sometimes I have to repeat myself...can't wait to meet my new third graders in a couple of weeks and see how that goes...talking a good part of the day! You know we may be a wee bit older than most of the folks who post here, but it's not WHEN you get on the train, it's the ultimate arrival at the destination! Good luck!

I have ceramics on top, metal on bottom, plus rubber bands. I also opted for SureSmile, which is supposed to cut the treatment time. I'm a tech geek and thought it was super cool. However, I won't go for the first SureSmile scan until mid-October.

I'm 34 and just got braces. My mum had her braces off 6 months ago and just turned 62! Her teeth look great, I'm so glad she did it. While I used to think 19 was too old...(when I was 19), now I think you're never too old

It is reassuring to hear about other adults getting braces, when I went for the initial consultations I felt like I was too old (a few months off my 30th!) but reading people's stories on here I actually feel like I'm doing the right thing at quite a young age!
