Hello,

Just wanted to introduce myself as this forum has been so amazing so far in putting my mind at ease and answering so many questions! I'm 27 and getting inspire ice ceramic braces top and bottom for 24 months- with possible power chains. Due to severe dental phobia i have put it off for 10 years- but after seing a particularly bad photo i decided it was time to just suck it up and get my teeth sorted!! after seeing a few orthos- i found an amazing guy near my work (brisbane, Australia)

It was planned for me to have 4 extractions and then application of my braces in 1.5 weeks

So i had 4 pre molars out this afternoon under sedative dentistry (or twilight sedation) it was great at settling my nerves- i dont think i could have done it otherwise. I was given a relaxing drink then IV- all in the dentist chair. Unfortunatly i woke up halfway through and became very distressed but even so it wasn't a bad experience. The dentist was great- apart from being very confused when leaving i have just wanted to sleep - i am in very little pain- so for everyone out there worried about extractions- please dont be!!! :o If i can do it anyone can!!!!!

So just have to wait out the next few weeks looking like a gummy bear- but just so excited to get the process started.

I'll upload some pics soon.

Has anyone has top and bottom ice inspire? or any top and bottom ceramics? any advice on them would be great...or if anyone has any extraction concerns i'll happily answer!
:D

Hiya :-1 , welcome to the club and congrats on getting started!

I too had four extractions, and I have top and bottom ceramics. I dont think you really need any tips in regards to them. I have had no issues from teeth rubbing on them or anything like that. The only parts that have really caused issues are the long bits of wire over the extraction sites. But nothing major.

I love my braces now and most of the time I forget they are even there. (Except when eating I dont think you could ever forget them while eating!!) Feel free to check out my pics

Good luck for your journey, look forward to reading and following your story.

My ortho assistant put some rubbery "bumpers" on the wires where they bridge my extraction gaps (she said to make things more comfortable), and that seems to help close things up a little bit (and make the gaps a little less noticeable...)

thanks for that- its day 3 and my extraction holes are starting to heal a little bit! alot less sore than yesterday- every day seems easier- except i'm still only really able to eat practically baby food! :GapToothed:
One positive is i've already lost 3 lbs- and that cant be a bad thing- every cloud!

Just excited to get my braces on now, although i'm glad a waiting a week and a bit to get them on as i cant imagine my extractions feeling good enough befor that- i'll post some photos soon once things are feeling a little less tender!

Thanks for the support guys!
