Hi everyone! I've been reading this board for a little while and finally decided to create an account. The way I found this board was while researching orthognathic surgery. I intend to have this surgery in the future, however, I don't know how soon I'll start the process. I'm about to finish my last year of undergraduate and get my degree. Probably once I get a job and get settled in, I will start saving money so I can start the process. In any case, I'm very grateful that this board is here.
My personal braces story is not that interesting. While I was a teen I wore braces for about four years, which is crazy. But my teeth were very very crooked. Now that I no longer have braces (and have straight teeth) I've realized that my teeth are very low on my face, which is why I want to have upper and lower jaw surgery (I also have a receding chin). I'm hoping insurance will cover some of the costs, and by reading some of the posts on this board I've come to find that this is actually possible. We'll see how this goes.

Hey if you have it at a place like Mass General or some other hospital, you can get the surgery covered all but $3,000 for the Orthognathic Surgery Workup. And sometimes the splint is not covered by the that's an additional $1,500
