Hey everyone! I will be getting my braces on the 29th. I'm anxious AND excited!

Here's a lil background info:

I'll 34 yrs old next month and used to want braces as a kid. I have a large gap and used to hate it. After a while, the gap/space didnt bother me as much and I even got compliments on it. However, I also have a deep/overbite which I loathe. As I got older, my teeth began to shift and my gap got wider, my bite got deeper and I also started getting some very minor crowding in the bottom front. Sooo, after much research I decided to go w/ Damon braces. Clear upper, metal lowers. I thought I may want Invisalign for a minute but, I didn't want to have to deal w/ taking those aligners in and out..just put something on my teeth and let it work 24/7.

Soooo..I'll be reading around on here some more and will post some pics of my teeth shortly.

Welcome to the forum I'm 34 too and had that gap in the middle. I don't like it but I wouldn't have fixed my smile just because of it (although I was rather concerned when my ortho told me it would likely get worse as I got older).

I too considered invisalign for a long while. In the end, like you, I just wanted to be able to sit and have a coffee without having to take anything out. Plus I was worried that when things hurt I'd just take them out for too long and I can honestly say, I know now that would have been the case.

Tobilei - Sounds very similar to my story...My grandmother has a gap and it's HUGE now so, I definitely didnt want mine to continue on to that size.lol How long before you saw progress w/ it closing after you got your braces?

Honestly the gap (top and bottom) is still there However the whole bottom left side has started to come together and is looking good (but that will probably change again). The bottom closed up around week 3 or 4 I think, but then things shifted again and it came back. The top has closed a little at the moment but I wouldn't be surprised if it came back either. I'm trying to be patient

How did it go? Do you have before pics?

@SunshineRay It went fine. It didnt take long at all. My orthodontist assistant who put the brackets on said we got finished an hour earlier than she'd anticipated. I havent had any paint thus far besides a little discomfort from the brackets rubbing the inside of my cheeks.
