Wax, Wax!

#1 Post by PeaCat »

Okay, I've got a "sticker" way in the back of my mouth. The wire is irritating the back of my mouth along with a hook for eventual "rubber bands". I used the wax provided by my orthodontist. It was sort of working until I drank a nice hot cup of tea. Guess what? The wax melted and before I knew it, it had come loose and I swallowed it! YUCK!

I guess this doesn't happen much with the kids with wired mouths.....

Oh the joys of braces huh? I usually remember to remove my wax before I drink something hot but I'm sure it's only a matter of time!

I swallowed my share of wax early on. Sometimes it is easy to forget to remove when eating or drinking.

I've found that I have a lot more success with silicone wax than the standard stuff from the orthodontist.

They have some for sale on the dentakit.com website. Those come in nice little cases too. Personally, I've found that the Mack's silicone ear pillows is cheap and lasts a very long time. I find it in Target, CVS, Walgreens, etc... It is the same kind of silicone wax, just in larger amounts sold for plugging ears. One "pillow" can give me 3-4 uses when I pull off the smaller pieces.
