Take some lip balm with you. Don't worry! The actual process of getting them on doesn't hurt at all, the worst part is having to hold your mouth open for that long (but it's held open with a plastic mouthguard thing anyway).
A couple of hours in maybe take some painkiller (ibuprofen) just to ease any discomfort you may get.
Stock up on soft or liquid foods for the first few days just in case your teeth hurt (soups, yoghurt, custard, polenta, cream of wheat or rice, wheatbix, potato and gravy, smoothies/protein shakes).
Good luck!

Good luck, I'm three weeks away and think about it almost every moment! Enjoy your week and let us know how you get on.

Hi Foysie,
What are you getting? I'm getting metal brackets on upper and lower and bite turbos on 10th May. Look forward to hearing about how you get on as you should be getting used to them just as I get started.

I didn't have spacers either. From what I hear, it was a blessing too. Never heard a good word about spacers! I don't have molar bands (reason why I didn't have to get spacers.) I'm happy about that too. I just have brackets on the back that have a little tube. I think that's what alot of us have too.
GOOD LUCK! I really prepared myself for the worst I think and the first week or so wasn't even that bad! You'll do great!

Hi NeilH,
Have had my braces on now 10 days and it all seems pretty ok.
Lots of pressure feelings more each day which must mean teeth on the move !!
My main relief was after two days being able to eat a sandwich (without crusts, toast, have my
thin dark chocolate squares and being able to eat ok !)
Once I realised I can eat pretty much like I used to (even though all cut up small) such a good feeling
to help cope.
I think I can see some straightening already so each day that goes by is a day closer to the goal !!
No one at work even comments on my braces as most don't even seem to see them so I feel a lot more confident. Even if some one does, I explain and then they tell me their teeth woes !!
Hope you are coping ok as well - its a journey with we hope,
a fantastic finish !!
