Newbie here...braced at 28

#1 Post by psily »

Hello everyone! I just got clear braces last week and starting to finally getting used to having this contraption in my mouth lol. I have a crossbite on my left side and gap between my two front teeth that I'd like to fix. Growing up, I never received orthodontic treatment, so here I am at 28 with braces :).

Hi! I had mine fitted on Wednesday, I'm getting used to it now too, I'm 27 and did have braces as a teen, but my teeth have definitely got worse since my wisdom teeth came through in my early 20s, so I'm kinda glad in a way!

Yes it's going well so far! Pain was so bad the first week, but feeling fine now. That might change tomorrow though after my first adjustment appointment!

I'm a newbie too and also 28, 29 in August, I'm getting my braces on June 2 and I was so scared after my consultation that I cried!!! I'm glad that there are some "older" folks getting there braces done. I feel a lot more confident now that I have read some of these stories.

How are you feeling now one month after? Have you gotten an adjustment yet?

Hi Reece welcome! No need to be scared, there are a lot of adults nowadays in braces. I was a little self conscious at first, but this board has definitely helped me be more confident. Most people don't even notice that I have braces on, unless I smile really big and actually show them. Then they ask me about it once and that's it!

The first week was the worst for me in terms of pain and eating food, but I am pretty used to by now. I have my first adjustment appointment today after work. I can't wait to change lig colors (the fun part about braces!) I can already see changes in my teeth after a month.

Thanks for the best wishes. I have the next two weeks to relax. What colours are you thinking of getting for your ligatures?

I'm thinking lavender or teal, or maybe smoke because I heard that smoke is like clear but will not stain. The clears stain too easily for me.

Use the next two weeks to eat all your favorite foods :)

I am 43 and about to get started too! I can't wait. I have wanted braces forever, but never thought it would be an option. The ortho my daughter goes to is so wonderful! They have helped me make it possible for me to get my deep bite fixed at the same time as my daughter is in treatment! I am just waiting... and waiting.. for my apt. I'm not very good at waiting- I want to get started!.. hahahh
