I got spacers in today... get the braces on top next week, I don't remember when the bottom ones go on...
My neice (10 years old) got her braces about a month ago - she says the spacers are the worst part - I hope she is right... This pain is worse than the headaches from the off kilter bite that the braces are supposed to remedy... please tell me it gets better!!
Well, I trust my dentist and my orthodontist... I'll take their word for it that it does get better.
I have a 14 month old son - I hope seeing me with the braces doesn't scare him!!

Hi rysa. I got mines in today. I took 1 advil before having them go in. I have them on lowers. It doesnt really feel so bad--just a bit uncomfortable like food stuck between my teeth. Then again my advil may wear off soon. Best of luck to you. Maybe your son may be intrigued by your mouth--my nieces say I will look like brafeface

Well, it's been a few days and the pain hasn't gotten better. It's not constant, but when I try to eat something it gets bad. Chewing is a, well - pain.
I have the plastic/rubber spacers on top - both sides and the metal ones on the bottom left. I'm missing 2 teeth on the bottom right so the spacers weren't needed.
Anyway - Tuesday can't come fast enough - that's when I get the uppers on.

I just had my lower and upper brackets put on yesterday. As far as pain, the spacers hurt. For now, im jus having a hard time eating as i get used to the brackets. So dont worry, I hear spacers are the worst
Sorry about the delay

Okay - on Tuesday June 21st I got my upper braces on!! It wasn't bad - I was so exhausted I fell asleep while they were working on them... the thing that was the worst (and took about a week to become acustomed to) are the brackets on the insides of my upper teeth... I am assuming there will be an appliance placed there at a later date.
Now, things are good... the inside brackets don't bother my tongue any more, however I swear I can feel my teeth move (not all of them - just when I bite down or eat something one will move).
I go back in a few weeks for an adjustment and to see if things have moved enough for the bottom set to go on.
It has taken me so long to post this because my Grandmother died the day before I got my braces and I left for Pittsubrgh, PA the day after I got them.

I'm really worried about the pain part and not being able to eat! But I suppose I'll just have to bear it, right? Well. . .I have to go now.
bye bye
