Getting braced this Friday (20th March)

#1 Post by aspiromusings »

Braces are going in this Friday!! getting Damon clears on the top row first (need them to move up and back a little before the bottoms go on)

I was wondering, does anybody have a checklist of things to prepare/have before the bracing session? tylenol etc etc?

Any advise would be appreciated

Thanks !

I had Damon metal put on the bottom just last week. Nothing on the top for a little while, sort of the reverse of your situation. It was no big deal, I really did not feel much until 15 hours later when I noticed my teeth were sore and tender. It got better after 3-4 days, really no big deal. My recommendation is to make sure you have a water pik, I'm not sure if I will ever get used to the way food sticks in them. I feel I need to clean them immediately after I eat! Good luck on Friday.

Second the waterpik take ibuprofen before you go in helps with inflammation and pain! Eat all the nuts you can cause there out after this!! I still 3 months later have to cut things into little tiny bites!! Anything chewy is no way!!! My teeth are always annoying and sore everyone's different it's not unbearable just annoying!!! I have all wire ties which I'm pretty sure contributes to my extra sore teeth grrrr!!! After all that still wouldn't change my mind your dental health is really important good luck:-)

Getting some profen/tylenol or something to that variety beforehand for sure, I am pain adverse lol

Have a big pigout planned tonight as my last supper of sorts, all the no no foods are on my plans for tonight!

And I'm Braced!

Didn't hurt at all and even now 24 hrs in it still doesn't hurt

Teeth just feel a bit sensitive and shaky (so I assume something's happening)

Thanks! So glad I took the plunge :) :)

Yes actually, before I knew it - done and completed

And still not hurting except for when I accidentally knock on the odd tooth or two

I already can't wait for the next adjustment!@

Oh good! I was worrying maybe it wasn't working hard enough as I read so many horror stories on here and was expecting the worst

So far so good!~ teeth are a little sensitive but that aside I can talk and function normally

Still sticking to soft-ish foods for now

Oh and my next visit will involve 2 extractions so i'm SURE this will seem like cake after THAT experience lol

Will keep you guys updated

Ok so the metal bracket right at the end of my right jaw top brace has come off as I discovered this morning however thanks to the curl thing my orthodontist at the end of my wire the bracket is staying put (though unglued from the back tooth)

I'm seeing an ortho (not mine) closer to my home to get it glued back on day after but in the meantime I am freakinggggg outtt lol

What did you guys do when one of your brackets came off?

You're fine! Don't freak out as long as it doesn't take you a week to get it back on.

I'm afraid I have not had one come loose let, but it is still early days for me too. Do you have any idea what may have caused it to come off? Apparently the photo activated glue does not fully cure for about 24 hours. I was told to be extra careful for the first day or so.
