Teeth that aren't in the arch wire yet are hurting the most!!

#1 Post by 30yearoldbraceface »

I am currently 3 weeks into my braces journey. As from today the teeth that aren't currently in the arch wire (see picture to see what I mean) have started to hurt!! I'm guessing it's because the other teeth are pushing into them? anybody have another explanation for me?

Also, feeling quite despondent as I see absolutely no change in my teeth, even though I know there must be as I can feel the pressure - must be doing something in there? Lol just being impatient I know! Anyone have slow movement in first month and then BAM movement all over the place in month 2??

How are you feeling now?

I am opposite to you. My first month I only had top braces and the bottom didn't hurt at all. I have a couple of teeth now without brackets due to positioning and I try to eat with only those teeth sometimes because they are the only ones that don't hurt. Also, I have seen no movement yet.

hi Jess1889, I am now over 6 weeks in braces and they no longer hurt - thank goodness. My main source of pain is now from my front teeth (top and bottom) - they are very tender to bite down on anything even soft things, and at my ortho appointments - the front teeth are the only ones that really hurt when he is making adjustments and especially when the elastic O-ring things (I cant remember what they are called sorry LOL) are replaced.

I notice now that my Canine teeth are slowly starting to move to where they are supposed to go - but in the process of all this movement - the teeth at the bottom that arent in brackets are being "left behind" LOL and now my bottom teeth are looking way worse than they ever looked before! Ai, what we do for beauty haha - just keep telling myself that it will have to look worse before it can get better and that I will be ecstatic to finally have a smile to be proud of (hopefully!)
