Here for family member

#1 Post by nosarpepls1 »

He's undergoing a pretty rough 5+ year orthognathic surgery plan. Includes PAOO, SARPE, and some other invasive surgery in which his jaw is detached from his skull and shifted forward. Unfortunately, I do not know the fully detailed version of the plan. I am learning more as time goes on, but (understandably) he doesn't like to discuss it at ALL. I'm ambivalent; I really want him to enjoy a healthy set of teeth w/ good occlusion, but I am very worried about the risks associated with the surgeries. And it's sad to see him suffer post-op.

Excited to read about others' experiences and join a community where I can learn more. :D

Good on you! I live alone so have no-one else to consult re any probs/pains I have but, if I was still doing the family thing (son now grown up), I suppose they would've needed some support/imformation, too. Here, I'm sure, is the place.

Good luck to your family member and to you in your supportive role.

T xx

ETA : both of you - hold on to the thought - it WILL all be worth it!
