Recently got Braces but having trouble
I am finding flossing very tricky and the fact I have a lot of Saliva doesn't help
. I also got recommended blue Crest pro-health mouthwash and some blue stuff gets stuck on my braces? Any idea why and if I should switch to another? Thanks!

Re: Recently got Braces but having trouble
My dentist recommended Colgate Fluorigard and I've used that throughout. Just seems to clean up without discolouration and it's got no alcohol in it. I've not flossed cos my teeny teeth just didn't have enough room but I do have a waterpik.
Waterpiking, toothbrushing, slooshing with the mouthwash have seen me through so far!

Re: Recently got Braces but having trouble
I got my braces 6 days ago and also had a lot of problems with flossing
I got a waterpik and that helps (not sure I am doing that completely right though)
Also with flossing I was given bad advice by a friend and told to use braces floss. Turns out that isn't waxed and gets stuck (for me anyway). My dentist told me to use regular waxed floss and I've found that much better. The first time I did it I was stupidly proud of myself. But it does take ages - and that time is something that I'm finding hard to manage too.
It all takes time - to get used to and to work out. I've found checking in on here helps as at least I know that I'm not the only one!

Re: Recently got Braces but having trouble
This is a known thing with this mouthwash. Its been said that this is a sign that the mouthwash is working, but its kind of freaky. I lean towards Act Sensitive or Act Braces Care because these are alcohol free. They do just as well as the Crest Pro Health without the gunk left on your brackets.Pipideed wrote: I also got recommended blue Crest pro-health mouthwash and some blue stuff gets stuck on my braces? I got a cool tip the other day I thought I would share. It may not be new to some of you, but it was to me
My ortho gives me floss with the little "pick" already attached on it and I love those, but when I run out I resort to using regular waxed floss with a threader. However, I get annoyed because it keeps falling out of place so my hygienist suggested tying a knot or two after threading it so it will stay. This has been really helpful for me.
