Sensitive

#1 Post by ukcruiser2 »

Had my top brace for 12 weeks now.The last few days a couple of my teeth have been sensitive to hot/cold drinks. I can't think how this can be because of my brace,I hope it is as I don't want to have other problems. Any help ?

That's pretty par for the course actually. Different sensitivities will come and go throughout treatment so best to take it in stride. If you're worried, you can always follow up with your orthodontist or regular dentist in case there's an underlying issue but if you haven't had issues like this in the past, I wouldn't sweat it too much. You can use a toothpaste designed to help with hot/cold sensitivity or (as I did) use a straw for just about everything.

I have sensitive teeth to begin with, so imagine my surprised as every few weeks some other group of teeth will suddenly become drama queens and freak out at anything cold. I often brush my teeth with lukewarm water because of it. I use a sensitive toothpaste and wait it out. It passes and then something else will be irritating.
Braces for 18 months/4 days.
