New to braces

#1 Post by metalgear »

Hi.

Just got braced a week ago. I'm a 41 year old guy. Went with Damon clear on top and metal on bottom. So far only real complaint is speech problems caused by bonded bite plates on my upper front teeth. They are quite deep and my tongue keeps hitting them when I talk. My speech has gotten a little bit better but still not great. I'll see what the ortho says about shaving them down on the next appointment.

My bite plate was the hardest part of braces to get used to. I began to regret getting braces because of the bite plate actually. My speech was so slurred and I had a sore on my tongue from them. But I noticed that over time, the plate started to naturally wear down and now I don't even notice it's there. My speech also returned to normal fairly quickly, I'd say within a week. Good luck :)
