Braces at 28

Hello everybody :) I'm new here. You can call me Ellen and I'm 28 years old :)
I had my braces at the 10th of December and it's almost one month now. I've always wanted to fix my teeth with braces ever since I was a child, but my family couldn't afford it and finally after over 20 years I finally managed to afford it myself after I got a job :jump:

I have a rather big gap in my front teeth (upper jaw) with a bit of spaces between the teeth up to the canines, and i have a bit of crooked teeth in the lower jaw with a very twisted canine. I decided to get the metal brackets because it's the cheapest and fastest based on my research, and of course I could be wrong but at least it's the cheapest where I live :)
My orthodontist said it would take about a year, so fingers crossed :pinkbraces:

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I also have an overbite which chipped one of my lower teeth one time, but i can't find the 'edit' button to add this piece on info to the first post.

Congtratulations! It's never to late to fix your smile. The change is slow at first but in a few months your smile will look much better.

It's great that you're going for it, I'm 42 and wish I'd done this when I was 28! This is a great place to hang out when the lows and you feel like taking a pliers to your mouth to get rid of them :D

And in my experience, change is actually pretty visible at first. I had noticeable change every month for the first 6 months, then it wasn't as visible anymore because it was about correcting the bite. One badly rotated and crooked tooth literally popped right into line while I was eating lunch one day - I actually felt it happen - true story

Good luck on your journey
