newby in damon braces

#1 Post by birkie63 »

Greetings! I found this site a few weeks ago and thought I would say hi! I am 41 and began my adventure in orthodontics in January of 2004. I began with a Herbst appliance which I wore for 1 year 9 months (though who's counting?) having it removed on September 9. I got my braces on the 19th and at this point they are much easier to adjust to then the Herbst was and they don't take up near the space :D . They are the Damon 3 brackets and a thin arch wire which I was told would be replaced with heavier wire over time.

I appreciate being able to read what others are going through and it is nice to know that I am not alone in this adventure.

Howdy there! I have Damon 2's, but it's the same process. I found that the heavier wires have been interesting to put in the tubes on my molars. I actually had the ortho put his foot on the chair on one of my adjustments. HA! I've actually had the same heavy wire on my lowers since May (I think). Not looking foward to get that one out. Overall, I have found them to be pretty much like the descriptions of regular brackets, since we all get food caught in them and they are all hard to floss between. HA! Keep us posted! :D
