I am 25 in the Air Force, currently stationed in Hawaii for the next three years. My first time to the dentist (the *dentist*, you know, the guy or gal you're supposed to see once a year?) was when I was almost *17*, so it sort of goes without saying that my teeth are not happy. The original reason I went to the dentist was because I chipped my front teeth, so I had to get two root canals (the first one didn't get everything, so they had to redo it), both front teeth were bonded, and then I got four fillings. After that my next time to the dentist was when I was 19, when one of the pieces of my front teeth just fell off, so that was just some more bonding. The time after that was when I was 24. Two more fillings. And I just went last week for, you guessed it, two more freakin' fillings.

So! I now find myself at a few fortunate positions. I have full coverage medical, so anything I do is free, free, free. My husband is totally supportive of all this. And since I'm stationed here for three years, and I'm finally out of training status, I can go ahead and start work on my teeth. :)

Right now I'm waiting to hear back from the military orthodontist to see if he'll take my case. And if he doesn't, then I can go to a civilian doctor. The bad thing about all of this is that I'm in Hawaii, which severely limits my resources in terms of what kinds of braces I can get (Damon braces are only offered on Maui, as far as I can tell, and there are invisalign, but my case is undoubtedly too severe for those). But for now I play the waiting game for the next two weeks to see where I'll be going.
